MVARC News

FIELD DAY 2016
MVARC will again be participating in Field Day activities this year on June 25th and 26th, from noon Saturday until noon Sunday.  Field Day is a time for practicing emergency communication procedures by setting up in a remote location and contacting as many other stations as possible in the 24 hours period.  Anyone interested in amateur radio is invited and encouraged to stop by.  This will take place at the KOA Campground in Jerome on Highway 93, just north of I-84.  For more information about Field Day please email Kelly@K7SU.com.

We will be setting up tents and antennas for this event on Friday, June 24th.  Check the MVARC reflector for updates or email Jim Kennedy kennedyjp@cableone.net for more information.

More classes planned for this fall.  Check back here often.

The MVARC will be holding an exam session for those seeking a Tech, General or Extra Class amateur radio license.  The session will be held Saturday,
May  21, 2016 at 9 a.m. at HAPPY LANDING Restaurant at Magic Valley Regional Airport (this time only!) in Twin Falls.  If you want to eat, please plan on eating BEFORE the testing begins or after it's ended.  More information is on our Testing Sessions Page.
Please note...if you are upgrading you MUST bring your original license and a PHOTOCOPY OF YOUR LICENSE!  If you do not also provide a PHOTOCOPY OF YOUR LICENSE, you will not be able to take the exam.

For questions about testing please click to email Kelly K7SU

MVARC members hold a non-formal, no-host lunch each Thursday (excluding holidays) at the Happy Landing Restaurant at the Magic Valley Regional Airport at 12-noon.  This is just a fun get-together where we discuss all things relevant including politics, ham radio, economics, theory of relativity, theory of life on other planets, how to turn lead into gold and coal into diamonds.  So if you aren't busy this Thursday please drop by and join us.
